Manufacturing Process

The hardwood for Temperate Engineered Flooring is carefully selected for face and backing, then sliced into thick veneers and kilned down to 6-8% moisture content.

The 12mm 100% birch throughout WPB (water and boil-proof) ply is kiln conditioned to around 8% and acts as the structural core to receive the face and backing veneers.

The bonding glue is inert and waterproof, cured by heat and pressure.

Once bonded, the floor is calibrated by sanding to 20mm thickness and then machined to form a tongue and groove on the long edges. The ends of the boards are grooved to receive loose tongues fitted on site.
